Neglected And Named "Street Child"
There are so many reasons why a child lives or works on the streets. For instance, some don’t have homes, some of them lost their parents , because of poverty, parental neglect, conflict, or the breakdown of their families. Every street child has their own unique story. Many of them can’t manage their food, and as a result, they have to go without food. Additionally, they had to remain hungry day after day. Many street children work for food only. They make deals, like if they get food, they will work for him. But they had to work extra for food.
These street children, particularly the females, are physically and emotionally abused. Children are used forcefully for someone’s physical needs. Consequently, they get infected with HIV/AIDS. As a result, risky sexual behaviors for survival drive them to engage in illegal behavior. Moreover, they are being forced into criminal activities. On a daily basis, they are harmed by adults, especially by government police, and even by their own families. They suffered a lot of mental health issues from these types of exercises.
Furthermore, they are denied access to education, which is their basic need. They live on the street without any protection. Some of the young take initiatives to provide them with education. Like in our area, there is a community called "Kishor Education" that helps the street children get an education. They are being called to an open place where community members help them with education.
Street children frequently become drug addicts and form a gang known colloquially as the "Kishor Gang." They harassed people and stole mobile phones and other valuables from the public. Besides, they harm people, and sometimes they kill others.
Many street children have a strong voice for public speaking. They are strongly connected to public spaces. They have talents that should be properly utilized.
There are 4 million street children in Bangladesh. As the county is below the poverty line, there are a huge number of street children, which is the result of corruption. Here, UNICEF also works for them. INCIDIN Bangladesh works for the development of street children.
Many projects, such as daily nutrition, medical assistance, educational opportunities, winter clothing, play activities, and so on, should be announced
